It was a great day, also celebrating the 25th anniversary of Father Ever Quintero's priestly ordination. A native of our Sucre region, this event fills us with immense pride. Hearing his story and seeing that the town of Queniquea has always been a Catholic community fills us with joy. Seventeen other priests and Monsignor Juan Alberto Ayala were also present.
It was an incredible mass where the word of God was shared, along with praise, tears and laughter (which are never lacking). Queniquea is full of hardworking, honest, cooperative and Catholic people. Seeing so many people gathered to celebrate the day of our Patron Saint was something that filled us with emotion.
Our Lady of the Rosary is the Patron Saint of Queniquea because the Parish was dedicated to this Marian devotion at the time of its canonical erection in 1853. Our Lady of the Rosary is seen in the community as a model of humility, fidelity, waiting and listening.
